Hardwood flooring specialists in The Greater London Area

London Flooring Canada traces its roots back to 1989, and hardwood is where that heritage shows the most. We supply and install solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, and custom parquet from every major manufacturer - Lauzon, Mirage, Mercier, Bruce, Kahrs, Coswick, Shaw, Armstrong, and more - across The Greater London Area, from established London neighbourhoods to newer subdivisions in Komoka, ON and Belmont, ON.

Because we buy directly from the mills, you get manufacturer pricing on the same floors the big-box stores sell at retail markup. Our in-house crew handles every step: removal, subfloor leveling, and installation - the same craftsmanship-first approach Herbie built this business on.

Solid vs. engineered - how to choose

Both are real wood. The difference is how the board is built - and which one you should pick depends on your subfloor and on the freeze-thaw humidity swings Southwestern Ontario sees between a dry winter and a humid summer.

  • Solid hardwood - 3/4" plank of 100% wood, nailed down. Best on plywood subfloors on main and upper levels. See our dedicated [real & solid hardwood](/real-solid-hardwood-flooring) page.
  • Engineered hardwood - real wood top layer on a stable plywood core. Handles humidity swings without cupping or gapping. Best over concrete, below grade, and with radiant heat - full details on our [engineered hardwood](/engineered-hardwood) page.
  • Wide planks (5"-7") - modern look, work in both solid and engineered constructions.
  • Parquet patterns - chevron, herringbone, custom inlays - all available in solid or engineered.

Wood species and stain colors

Red and white oak account for the majority of our installations - they're durable, take stain beautifully, and age gracefully in the kind of century homes London is known for. Maple offers a cleaner, more uniform grain. Hickory is the hardest domestic wood and great for active households. Walnut and cherry bring richer, darker tones for more formal rooms.

Stain options range from natural blonde and whitewashed to grey, fumed, and dark espresso. We bring sample boards to your home so you can see the actual stain on the actual wood in your actual light - not a print in a catalog. It's the same in-home approach as our [free estimate](/free-estimate) visits for every other category we install.

Professional installation, done by people who live here

We install nail-down, glue-down, and floating hardwood depending on what your subfloor allows. Every job includes proper acclimation to your home before install, moisture testing, subfloor leveling, baseboard removal and reinstall, and full disposal of old flooring. New hardwood needs time to adjust to a Southwestern Ontario home's humidity before it ever gets nailed down, and we build that into every schedule rather than rush it - it's the difference between a floor that stays flat for decades and one that doesn't. If tile or [laminate](/laminate-flooring) is a better fit for a bathroom or basement in the same project, we handle that too.

Hardwood Flooring - frequently asked questions

Most whole-home installs take 2 to 4 days, plus an acclimation period beforehand so the wood settles to your home's humidity before we nail or glue it down.

Engineered hardwood works beautifully in kitchens and below-grade basements - the plywood core stays stable when humidity shifts. We don't recommend solid hardwood in either location; for basements we more often recommend [engineered hardwood](/engineered-hardwood) or waterproof [luxury vinyl plank](/luxury-vinyl-plank).

A quality solid hardwood floor properly installed and acclimated to our climate can last 80-100 years. Engineered hardwood typically lasts 30-50 years.

We bring sample boards in your wood species and color so we can match within a shade or two before you commit to a full room or whole-home install.

Craftsmanship We treat every install like it's going in our own home - careful subfloor prep, tight seams, and clean transitions, because the details are what separate a floor that lasts from one that doesn't.

Because the name stands for something. London Flooring Canada carries forward a family flooring standard that began in 1989, and every installer on our crew is held to that same bar for craftsmanship and honesty. When you work with us, you're getting the benefit of 37 years of family flooring heritage - not a new company still figuring things out.
Every install reflects the standard Herbie Holden set back in 1989 - honest measurements, careful prep work, and a finished floor built to last, not just to look good on install day. We bring that same craftsmanship to every home across The Greater London Area, backed by a team that treats your project like it's going into the Holden family's own house.
We love helping homeowners with flooring, furniture moving, and other home interior work. This specialization ensures the strongest level of expertise for any work we do – and helps you get the best deal for the price possible.
We do offer financing solutions and can work with you on different options. With financing, we offer a relatively straightforward process which allows homeowners support to complete a needed project even when you may not have cash on hand.
If you notice any damage to your flooring, promptly document the issue and contact us right away. Our team will assess the situation and ensure your floor is restored to its original, flawless condition!
